All I want for Christmas is an RS600!
2019 has been another hugely successful year for the RS600. The new square top main was introduced in the Summer and to date a phenomenal 23 new sails have been delivered!
We announced in the Autumn that new RS600s are now available to order and can confirm that enough orders have been placed for the first batch, which has a build slot secured at the Boat Yard at Beer in April, with boats being delivered in May. If you fancy treating yourself for Christmas, it is not too late to add to this order!
There are a range of boat options available – sailors can order a complete RS600 ready to sail, a hull only option to keep costs down or agree an individual specification between fully fitted and bare hull.
The new RS600’s will benefit from the following features:
- A new squared rudder tower, incorporating a hatch for bolted through pintles and improved airing of the hull
- Optional new extra thick pro grip, available in a choice of colours
- New protection plug at the back of the dagger-board case to help prevent grounding damage
- Removal of the transom bar, replaced with additional hull strengthening
As well as these hull improvements, new boats will of course include the new Selden mast and square top sail. For those looking to personalise their boat, there are a huge range of RAL hull colours to choose from – a look at the recent photos of the RS300 fleet will provide inspiration!
New boats should be delivered in time for the RS Eurocup at Carnac the annual multiclass European event organised by the RS Class Association, which the RS600s have been invited to following encouraging attendance figures in 2019.
The RS600 Rooster National Tour and Volvo Noble Marine National Championship dates are here, and it is also worth joining the class face book group to see which Winter events RS600 sailors plan to travel to.
Class Chair Ian Montague said “This is all very positive Christmas news for the RS600 class which has achieved so much and is in a really good place”
