Volvo Cars UK grows 'grassroots to glory' support through RS Classes

Volvo Car UK is pleased to announce a new partnership with the RS Class Associations for the next three years. The growing RS classes, run by ‘sailors for sailors’, comprises thousands of sailors nationwide and is best known for the highly competitive one-design racing.

Volvo will become title sponsor to the Classes for a number of nationwide events - from the grass roots youth oriented RS Feva Grand Prix series up through the pathway of the RS adult class National Championships.

This new addition to the Volvo sailing sponsorship portfolio, that also includes the Optimist class, RYA Volvo Team GBR and the British Sailing Team, includes some of the most popular UK racing classes and attracts first time sailors through to high performance racers, complimenting the Volvo ‘grassroots to glory’ sponsorship philosophy.

“Over the past fourteen years we have built our sailing sponsorship in the UK to range from those at grass-root level to some of the very best in the sport. We look forward to working with the RS Sailing Association, supporting their events in which a number of the UK’s talented amateur sailors regularly compete,” commented Nikki Rooke, Head of Corporate Communications, Events and Sponsorship for Volvo Car UK.

Volvo has been a long-term backer of sailing in the UK, having supported youth sailing since 1999, and recently announced a new four-year sponsorship deal across the Olympic, Paralympic and Youth Racing programmes of the RYA’s British Sailing Team.  Competitors in the class can expect support from Volvo at their events this summer ranging from coaching appearances from some of the country’s top sailing talent ‘Team Volvo’, the opportunity to ‘win a car’ for events - helping transporting boats and equipment in comfort and safety to exclusive event prizes.
