Important News for Lee-on-Solent event, 15/16 May
Car & boat parking will be on the cliff opposite the club. Boats will launch via the LOSSC slipway on to the beach and there will be plenty of marshals. There will people there directing you on Saturday from early, but for those who have not been to LOSSC, either look at the LOSSC website (www.lossc.co.uk) or follow the directions in your Yearbook, after you have turned left onto the Promenade, cross 2 pedestrian crossings, then turn right into the beach car park. Watch your speed in Lee - there are vigilant cameras.
Last year those who arrived on Friday were a bit confused because Lee weren't expecting early birds! This year Lee are prepared, and someone will be on hand from 6-9pm on the Friday. If you plan to come on Friday, go the signal station which is 300yds past the sailing club and on the right, where the boat compound is. You can move your boat on to the cliff in the morning. Parking will be £3/day total for both car & boat which will go to the local council.
The club will be taking registration from 0900hrs on Saturday in the clubhouse. You will have an opportunity at registration to book an evening meal. The first start will be at 1300hrs on Saturday.
We have arranged 2 coaches to go onto the water on Saturday, take video footage and notes, and give a short de-brief to each fleet early evening on Saturday. This will start for RS200s at Lee and Vareos at Stokes Bay at approx. 5.30pm. The 400s will follow the 200s. We hope you will find this interesting. [NB. The RS600s will have something similar arranged for the WPSA event in early July]
We had planned an enormous party, but have been let down by the marquee provider at the last moment. LOSSC have rallied round, however, and there will be a disco and bar extension until midnight. However, LOSSC are restricted on numbers, so they will not be able to invite the competitors at Stokes Bay SC (who will be having their own party), and they may have to restrict the numbers in the bar. There is an overflow room, however, so we should be OK.
There is NO camping on site, but the Kingfisher campsite is only 1 mile away (02392 502611), or you could ask Stokes Bay SC who are providing camping (02392 581513/administrator@stokesbay-sc.co.uk).
