RS Fat Face Eurocup - Riva del Garda - Important Information
I hope you are all really looking forward to Garda later this month.
Here is some important information regarding the event.
The cost is Euro 130 for single-handers and Euro 160 for double-handers.
The first race will not be before 1300hrs on Monday 26th July. There are
2 races scheduled each day for 5 days, and all 5 fleets will race on one
enormous course with separate starts. I am sure you have made your
travel arrangements by now, but do call the RS Office if you require any
help or advice. You can register in advance if you wish online via
www.fragliavelariva.it - this will save you valuable drinking time when
you get there. You will all need to enter and pay on arrival, however.
You will be able to register at the club from 1500hrs-1900hrs Sunday and
0800hrs-1230hrs Monday, and the briefing will be at 1130hrs on Monday
26th July.
Riva del Garda is a beautiful town set in stunning scenery. The wind,
whilst not guaranteed, is thermal and this time of year almost always
picks up at lunchtime to a strong breeze. And the sun will be
shining. The club at Riva, Fraglia della Riva, is very welcoming but,
unlike many UK clubs, is a business and will not spend hours of
volunteers' time arranging convenient boat parking, easy launching and
wild socials. So we have to do this for ourselves.
The club has confirmed that there is plenty of boat parking space for up
to 200 boats, and I think we will almost reach this number. However, it
will be extremely tight and inconvenient, and launching will be difficult
and will take in excess of an hour each day. Natalie Rogers has agreed
to act as Beach Master for the first couple of days to get things on
track. PLEASE DO AS SHE SAYS! You will not be able to park in the
boat park before 2000hrs on the Saturday, as there is a Laser 4.7 event
preceding us. All double, triple, etc. trailers will have to be moved
immediately on arrival, and we will be putting the slower boats that need
to launch first nearest to the slipway. Communal trolleys will be
used. If you do not like these ideas, please consider cancelling your
holiday! Basically, what we are asking is that you all act as
considerately as possible to make it a great holiday and regatta for
everyone.
On the social front, the club will arrange something for one night, and
the rest of the time there are loads of great clubs, bars and restaurants
in the town. We will, no doubt, adopt a bar for the week, and let
everyone know where to meet (or avoid!) on the official notice board. If
you feel you are missing out on the socials, however, please speak to me
or Natalie.
If you have any other queries, please contact me at the RS Office.
