International RS Association Constitution - Outcome of Vote

Many thanks to those who returned their voting form regarding the proposed International Constitution. To recap, at the 2003 AGM, it was announced that the time was ripe for an International Constitution; the Executive Committee hope that an International Constitution will encourage international growth and it is necessary to ensure that all national fleets sail under the same class rules to maintain the one-design nature of the boats. A draft International Constitution was sent to all RS Association members for agreement. Perhaps the most salient points were: 1/. National RS Associations would be the members of the International RS Association. 2/. Voting would be in proportion to the number of members of each National RS Association (broken down by Class in the case of a boat- specific issue). 3/. Class rule changes would have an extra tier of international agreement required, which would ensure all boats are maintained under the same rules on an international level. 4/. There will be a small amount of additional administration required which the UK Association will offer to undertake in the early days. National Associations will pay a levy towards this cost. 77 votes were received, with 74 (96%) agreeing with the proposed constitution. Now the constitution has been agreed, it will be sent to International Committees. The International Constitution will be available on the website under 'Documents' or by contacting the RS Association office.
