GRP hull production
Many of you are aware that our GRP hull supplier, RMW Marine, has
purchased a boat building factory in Brazil and production of RS boats
has just started there. RMW chose the factory due to the very high
quality boats they already build and their lower costs than in the UK.
This move has enabled us to maintain the same prices for our boats
despite resin and glassfibre prices having risen along with oil prices
over the last year.
Moulds have been taken from our master plugs, all templates were taken
from the UK, the same specification materials will be used and the boats
will be built in exactly the same way they have been by RMW in the UK.
Brazilian staff were trained at RMW’s UK factory and key staff from
Britain have been involved in the set-up in Brazil. Working with RMW on
this has been key to ensuring seamless one-design consistency.
There is almost bound to be the odd logistics issue in the early days as
systems settle in – customs clearance at both ends, freight etc. and we
trust you will bear with us should this happen. Please be assured that
we’ll do everything we can to continue to offer you good service as
usual.
