RS Eurocup and RS700 European Champs - Travemunder Week
Further to our article in the December 06 newsletter, here is an update
about this great new (to RS) event on the 2007 calendar. For our main
Eurocup event this year, the 200s, 300s, 400s, 500s, 600s, 700s & 800s
are off to Travemunder Week, billed as the 2nd largest sailing event in
the World - it's a serious racing and party week with over 1000 boats in
various fleets, and a fantastic variety of socials in a tented village.
It is also a great environment for families. Perhaps people who have
been to Travemunder Week before in other fleets will comment here about
their experiences. So far we have only heard excellent reports, and
Charlotte and I recently went for a meeting at the club and we think it's
going to be fabulous! German efficiency and beer - perfect!
The dates are 23 - 27 July and we will have our own RS course (or courses
if we get over 120 total entries before 31st May). All facilities are
really close - walking or push-bike-distance - including hotels, B&B,
restaurants, discos, pubs etc.
The club arranges extremely local camping just off the beach, which can
be booked with your entry - forms will be available from March 2007.
There are loads of other accommodation option, all very local to the
action. Use the accommodation hotline - 0049 451 409 1956,
info@luebeck-tourismus.de, zimmer@luebeck-tourismus.de I have tried
this and would suggest calling - they speak excellent English and can
answer all your queries.
Travemünde is 45 minutes north-east of Hamburg. Ryanair flies into Lübeck
(they call it Lübeck/Hamburg) Airport, which is 20 minutes away.
Sailboat Deliveries (www.sailboatdeliveries.com) will be delivering for
approx. £375/boat. Travemunde is just 8 hours (500 miles) from Calais,
or 6 hours (370 miles) from the Hook of Holland ferry ports.
The race area is in Lubeck Bay in the Baltic Sea. RS launching will be
off the beach or the dinghy ramps in the harbour. There will be a Beach
Club tent with a bar and cafe right on the launching beach, enabling you
to have your first (and perhaps all) drinks immediately after racing
whilst still in your shorties!
The entry fee will be approx. £93 for double-handers and £71 for single-
handers.
NB: RS300, RS500, RS600s Important Information

asked at this event if 6 or more definite entries are received with

like to enter the event, please send a cheque for £50 to the RS Class
Association at East Hayes, Grove Road, Lymington, SO1 3RN with your
