Allen RS Feva & Tera Worlds Day Two

A foggy start to the day in Carnac was resolved when on queue the sun broke out and burned off the lingering visibility issues. Result was a timely arrival of the seabreeze but slightly weakened. A delay of some 45 minutes on launching to establish the seabreeze over the whole course area was utterly correct. Nice one Tony O’Gorman!

Results were naturally different to day 1. Yesterday was pretty full on without flat out planning conditions. Today was one for the lighter air specialist or the genuine all-rounder. So step forward Rob & Emma Loveridge, hotly pursued by Owen Bowerman & Charlie Darling. Owen & Charlie had a not dissimilar start to the Europeans last year & so won’t be letting this go their heads this year. Yesterdays Italian pacesetter Matteo Pilati and Mattia Duchi couldn’t quite keep it going but are still looking good in 3rd.

There was a real oddity in the second race when the wind misbehaved seconds before the start causing an AP to go up some 5 seconds before the start. Some boats weren’t aware and clearly didn’t quite get the subtlety of the black flag rule on their belated return to the start. To avoid the BFD result they only needed to sail sideways out of the start line windward mark triangle to be in the clear even if time was running short. Hope it was to have been a discard in any event!

The Irish were in fine form as well today with the brothers Lyden scooping 1st and 3rd in one race. So whilst Jack Hawkins and Chris Thomas were scooping fair play awards and ended day 2 in 4th place Dermot Lyden & Peter Stokes were only 3 pts behind but perhaps more importantly for them?? They were 1 point ahead of brother Brendan Lyden and Marc  Cudmore! Previous leaders Fillippo Bucciarelli & Gabrielle Tropiano qualified in 7th. Rounding out the top 10 were Vikky Cudmore & Amy Harrington (IRL) in 8th, Tim & Jack Johnson in 9th ( GBR & family) and Veronica Macari &  Maria Lenotti  Marta (ITA) 10th.

So the qualifying position is now carried over into the final series as a non-discardable result the individual results are as above. Leading ladies are Vikki Cudmore & Amy Harrington followed by Veronica Macari & Maria Lenotti Marta whilst leading family entry are brother and sister Rob & Emma Loveridge whilst second are father & son Tim & Jack Johnson. I aplogise for not beig able to bring you the leading juniors yet but I’d be surprised if it wasn’t Morgan Peach & Herbie Harford in 23rd! I’ll eat the humble pie tomorrow! RS Tera Report

Another Sunny day in Carnac. The predicted light condition evaporated before the start of the racing leaving another  stiff breeze for the afternoons launch. This suited the UK dominated pro fleet but due lack of weight in the sport fleet compared to their foreign rivals meant another tough day.
